The buttermilk zebra dun pelt glimmered in the afternoon sun. Muscles relaxed as the mare came to a halt next to a wall, one of the many left standing. It was pale of color, and a few bricks were missing in the center. The fae did not dare to lean against the wall, for fear of it tumbling down on her. But she stayed near it, for it provided shade. The wind whistled as a breeze blew by, whipping her mane about on the crest of her neck. She closed her eyes. The breeze felt good, as did the shade. She lifted her left hind hoof, then rested the tip on the ground gently. Her breathing was normal and relaxed. Her rib cage expanded then shrunk slowly, rhythmically with her breathing. It was a wonderful day, yes indeed. She had hoped to find a home here, but she had not crossed anyone... yet. She needed a home, a herd to reside in. For the past year she had just been roaming. Not blindly of coarse, for she was always headed here. But little did she know that a war was going on. She would help fight, of coarse. She was a good fighter, or at least she thought. Unicorns... They did not deserve a place on this wonderful earth. This mare had many opinions, and she would point blank tell you what she thought. She didn't care, horses deserved to know what she thought. She hated lieing. It was a disgusting trait known to every creature God put on this earth. The faes black orbs opened slowly. She came back to reality, looking at the wall that stood still beside her. This had not particularly been an exciting day, but she didn't care. maybe she would be able to get a home soon...

Heading back to Tyrina's terra, Velli mused over his meeting with the mare Dakotta. He had little time to think over it, though, becuase he had to get to where he knew his Lady would soon follow, and he needed time to prepare. Time was running out. He rushed now, knowing he needed time to prepare. His conversations had cost him, but hopefully not more than he would gain. Allys were important to have. He wondered what would happen if they were to face the unicorns alone. He wondered how many they were in numbers. He would not let the horses lose their advantage, for they did have the advantage, having inhabited the earth more openly. It was very sad it had come to this, but indeed it had.
He trotted, reviewing what he would say in the ceremony. He had decided on much already, and he knew what he would do to cement the True Markings, and end the ceremony. The rites would be written in the precious blood of life, and would last longer than that which flowed through his own veins if all went as favored. They would be ready, and so it was important for him to make these preparations.
He stepped toward the terra, closer and closer, hoping he would get there and find his place within a sufficiently short amount of time. He knew he'd have to expend some of his Great Power now that he had spent so long.
He heard another near by. Ah well, what would be one last conversation or two if he decidedly would have to use the wearing pools of his true power in any case. He saw a mare stading not very far away, and bade himself to slow his gate. He dropped to a walk and stood, approaching the mare.
His stone agate clashed pleasantly with the debris that littered the ground. He glowed in the pale evening sunlit reflection of shatter-glass. Wondering what the mare had come forth so close to Tyrina's lands for, he decided he would make this one conversation before his efforts were made for his great mistress. His banner kissed the wind that whirled around, as genteel as the stag appeard himself at that very moment. His grey hued pelt shone signs of ware, but was none the less distinguishing, giving him the look of power as was necessary for such a being.
He walked no further letting a cloud take his image back to its former shadowed age, for the glass only sang and did not show its rainbow nature what it was quelled by the damp'd shift of slight darkness. He nickered his greeting, and took in what the femme's expression offered. She seemed confident, and innocent, very youth-like in the way she was completely straighforward in her bearing. Looks could be deceiving, but he did not find himself often wrong. She looked as if she would not be oe to side with the enemy, but join them instead. "Hello," Velli called in sudden greeting.

The mares ears flicked back and forth. The sound of hoof beats came closer and closer. She lifted her head up, her black orbs wide, but not with fear. A figure of a grey horse was coming into view, he was headed for her. She head his nicker and she took a few steps away from the wall, toward him. She had a calm look to her, not at all surprised. But she really was surprised to see another coming toward her. A hello was heard from the stallion. Who was this brute? Oh well. She looked him over. She dipped her dial in respect, her for lock covering her pitch black orbs. When she lifted her dial to the normal height, she shook it, her mane and for lock went flying, only to land perfectly. Hello, her reply was curt, quick, and harmless. A short pause filled the air before her lyrics caught in the air again. "May I ask who you are?" The mare really had no idea. She had not even seen the Queen before, nor the King. She doubted this stallion was the King, but it was always possible. She swished her delicate strands of tail from side to side. She was one that could not sit still for too long, and this sort of helped. At least she was moving something. She waited for a reply. (sorry that it is so short... No muse today...)

Velli trotted closer to the femme, letting the glass scatter around him, a lithe strand of the rainbow twinkling up from his daggers. His banner wrapped around his neck, covering him in a shade of pride among his brilliance. For some, it might have given an air of mystery, but taking into account the rest of his bearance and countenance, this was not so. He might have appeared paret of shadows in his past, or maybe to come in the future, but not now, not at present. He was the picture of welcoming and aimiability.
He let his forlock kiss his orbs and flutter back to rest between the burning pools. They were intense, but the years had taken so much from them. His past, unlike the normal valley others had engraved in their minds, his past stretched in a void, and endless canyon, a deep, dark expanse, an abyss...
Emotions of the ceremony flooded his head all at once. He sighed and thought through his words one last time. ' It would be a nice ending, definately, other than the necessary actions he had in his mind. He could feel the hot blood dripping from his bodice almost now, but it was in pleasure not pain.
He concetrated on what the mare said when she spoke. She greeted him as he had done to her, with the certain courtesy. He offered no answer, and waited to hear her next statement. She asked who he was and he considered the question. He would have usually given a witty twisted statement giving his purpose riddled with similies, hyperboles, and strange bits of the past. Now, he decided to be straightforward for once, becuase he had to go, and he had to conserve his energy. "I am Velli, press'dly loyal servant of the most honorable Lady Tyrina of thus terra o'er the line of sunset."

The mare listened to him carefully. Servant of Tyrina? He must have been a busy horse. She studied him for a moment. He looked... Sort of rushed, like he was in a hurry. Then why had he stopped to talked to her? She had no idea. He probably had a deadline to meet, but maybe it was not for a while. He black orbs looked toward the ground below her. She pondered what to say for a while. She looked back up at the stallion again. "You must be busy. I will not keep you, if you have to leave." Her words were gentle, but serious. He should not be wasting his time talking with a mare such as herself. She let out a snort, watching him carefully, waiting to see if he would reply.

Velli let his mind wander a moment. He decided he would need to end up in Tyrina's terra. He would not want a place too easy to find. This ceremony would be very special. He looked to the mare at his fore. He wished he could welcome all of these mares he had come across, and show them around the terra. The welcoming duties, and such, but time was of the essence. He had lived long enough to forget the value of a second, but life could be short enough to remind him. He needed to get to Tyrina.
Then again, he felt very bad leaving everyone, directing them to a place not familiar in the ruined city. He would be there soon enough. He had given up his leadership long ago, but that did not make him forget how to lead.
He let himself slip into a pleasant vision of what Tyrina's herd might be like, assembled into a unit worthy of calling a harem. He could picture her, magnificent at the front, her banner flowing crimson against this fated sky. The body of the herd, of all colors, filing behind her like a creature of her wake.
As he imagined, he let the stiff reality of the vision slip away. He imagined the scene of the city melting to plains of grass. As the hooves thundered he was taken back to his own memories, leading through the grasses, the trees, the crystal lake. Flecks of water flowed over his hooves and splashed around them as he pursued the ever-present wind. It was not the wind of now, though. It was old, clear, and unpolluted. Today's wind would be more than that wind, however. It was the wind of change.
It was finally Tyrina's turn to lead, and he knew she had what it took to follow the wind of today, especially with all of these horses to follow. He hoped more stallions became additions, since they did have a good number of mares. They had some strong individuals, though. Like the mare Aero. Perhaps this mare he talked to now would want to join them.
"I am deeply apologetic, but I must take leave to attend the matters of my Lady. I would like to extend an invitation for you to come to her lands of residence to live, and would be much obliged to talk then, but I am afraid I must leave now." He waited for her response and then he would have to leave, because, as he had known before, time was of the essence.
